Wind off Raccoon Strait
Tiburon's peninsula faces the water, with Angel Island across the strait. Homes on Ring Mountain slopes catch wind that city lots never feel. Wind works at the edges: ridge caps, hips, rakes and the first course. A shingle that is nailed high or sealed poorly lifts, and a lifted tab lets water in.

For an exposed roof we ask about the fastener pattern, the starter course and the ridge detail. The estimate should list them. Those are the inexpensive details that matter most in a gust.
Belvedere shares the hill, not the permit
Belvedere sits on the same peninsula and shares Tiburon's ZIP code, but it is a separate city. Each has its own building department. Tell us your street address and confirm the right office before work starts.
- Roof Repair
Wind-lifted tabs and loose ridge caps are the typical peninsula repair. We re-nail or replace the affected courses and check the ridge line end to end before leaving.
- Roof Replacement
Exposed slopes need nailing and underlayment done to the letter, so we spell out the fastener pattern. The estimate also names the starter course and the ridge cap detail.
- Storm Damage Roofing
After a strong blow we document lost shingles with photos for your insurer. Sudden wind damage is usually covered and wear is usually not, so the photos help separate the two.
- Emergency Roof Repair
A tarp can hold a ridge until the weather clears, but arrival depends on the day's crews. If shingles are already missing, photograph the bare area from the ground and call.
- Gutters
Tiburon averages about 26 inches of rain a year, most of it from December through February. Gutters on exposed slopes also take wind-driven rain, so we check the brackets and the fascia behind them.
- Roof Inspection
On a slope above the water, a roof is worth checking before winter, not after. A photographed inspection covers the ridge, rakes and first course and tells you what to fix while the weather is dry.
Permits and the look of the house
Tiburon is an incorporated town, so roof permits come from the town and not Marin County. If a reroof changes the color or material of a visible roof, ask the town whether review applies. Homes here are mostly owner-occupied, about 67% in 2020, and views matter to neighbors as well.
After a blow
One Alameda customer reported a same-day stop after a windstorm, with lost ridge shingles tarped. Another had a loose shingle replaced under the workmanship warranty after strong wind. The terms go in your contract in writing; ask us before you sign.

Main Street, Old St. Hilary's and a dry summer
Tiburon grew around its railroad terminal, which served ferries until 1941. Today Main Street is the downtown core near the ferry terminal, and Old St. Hilary's, built in 1888 for railroad workers, is a hillside landmark in town, per Wikipedia. Houses near the old village streets can be among the town's oldest, so ask before you assume a roof is original or a single layer. June through August is essentially dry here, which makes summer the natural tear-off window. Book early, because dry months fill first.
Crews and the road to Tiburon
The drive is about 51 minutes, and the bridge crossing can add to it at rush hour. Urgent calls are subject to crew availability. An inspection by Wayne or Pedro often comes first, followed by a written estimate with photos.
